Using Cheat Codes in Multiplayer Games
You can always try to psyche your opponent but this will obviously not work. Whether you’re playing StarCraft Brood War, Remastered or StarCraft 2 the cheat codes can only be activated in single player games.
Last Words – A Bit of Nostalgia From Me To You
Writing about cheat codes truly sparks a feeling of nostalgia. The original StarCraft was released in March 1998 – during a time when internet access was gained through an incredibly expensive dial up 56k modem. I remember only being allowed to play online a limited amount of hours during the weekend because it simply cost too much.
Nevertheless, everyone who owned a PC either had the full original game purchased or had a friend’s spawn version installed for multiplayer. A spawn copy of the game meant that you had a demo of some sort which allowed you to play with the original owner if you joined his hosted game. Hand in hand with underdeveloped internet, this was perfect for a LAN party.
Back then the skills weren’t as refined as they are today (I blame it on young age) so most of us struggled either with the single player campaign or playing against the AI on local skirmishes. Though we always had an ace up our sleeves – the StarCraft cheat codes. I don’t know how many times I have written black sheep wall and show me the money but I will always remember it.
